Why Italy works for international students

Income-based tuition

Public universities set fees using your family's income (ISEE), so you pay what's fair — often very little.

English-taught programs

Study your whole degree in English at hundreds of programs — no Italian needed to begin.

Serious scholarships

DSU regional grants plus national schemes can cover tuition and add a stipend, housing and meals.

An EU-recognised degree

Bologna-framework degrees are recognised across the EU and open doors worldwide.

Work & stay back

Work part-time while you study, and stay on after graduation to look for a job.

Great value of life

World-class culture, food and travel — with a lower cost of living than much of Western Europe.

Costs & funding

Italy is one of the most affordable places to study in Europe. Figures are indicative and vary by university, city and income.

Public university tuition (income-based)€0 – €4,000 / year
Private university tuition€6,000 – €20,000+ / year
Living costs (city-dependent)€700 – €1,200 / month
With a DSU scholarshipTuition waived + stipend + subsidised housing/meals

What you'll need

  • Academic transcripts & certificates (Class 12 / bachelor's)
  • English test — IELTS / TOEFL / PTE / Duolingo
  • Entrance test where required (IMAT, TOLC)
  • Document legalisation — Apostille (MEA) & Declaration of Value
  • Passport, SOP, letters of recommendation, CV

We validate, translate and legalise every document so nothing gets rejected at enrolment or the visa stage.

How the process works

Six stages — we handle the paperwork at every step.

Step 1

Profile review & shortlist

We assess your grades, budget and goals and shortlist the right universities, programs and intake.

Step 2

Sit the required tests

English test (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE) and any entrance test (IMAT for medicine, TOLC for some bachelor's).

Step 3

Apply & pre-enrol

We prepare applications and complete pre-enrolment on the Universitaly portal, with document legalisation.

Step 4

Apply for scholarships

We prepare your ISEE assessment and submit DSU and national scholarship applications on time.

Step 5

Student visa & permit

We build your Type D visa file, prep you for the interview, and guide your residence permit after arrival.

Step 6

Fly & settle

Arrive, enrol and settle in — with optional on-ground post-arrival support.
